Craniosacral Therapy is derived from Osteopathic Medicine. Anatomically, Craniosacral Therapy focuses on all of the bones in the cranium, jaw, teeth, vertebrae, and sacrum, as well as the brain, spinal cord, and cerebrospinal fluid.
Craniosacral Therapy is a very gentle healing modality. At times, the therapist may use as little as 0-5 grams of pressure. This gentleness creates a unique feeling of safety for the patient that can allow for profound, immediate transformation and give the patient permission to heal at their own pace.
The techniques bring fluid movement and optimal function to the bones, joints, tissues, organs, and central nervous system. However, the techniques are really a gateway to access the physical, energetic, and emotional state of the entire body. While receiving Craniosacral Therapy, patients often experience a process know as “unwinding,” where the body engages in spontaneous, effortless movements, sometimes accompanied by emotional release.
Craniosacral Therapy is appropriate for many conditions, especially those resulting from physical or emotional trauma. Erin has treated many people with whiplash, back pain, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, and traumatic brain injuries. She also works with various degrees of emotional trauma stored within the body. Stored emotional trauma can be caused from birth trauma, childhood abuse, grief and loss, PTSD, or any stressful life event. Craniosacral Therapy helps to “unwind” and release these traumas from the body.
Craniosacral Therapy is available in combination with Acupuncture or as a stand-alone treatment.
